SkiKitInfo.com tests the 2022 Dynastar M-Pro 90, 99, 99 W & M-Free 99 freeride skis, as well as giving a full range review, including specs, of the other skis in the M-Pro & M-Free lines. Float, grip, stability & fun are all adjectives that apply to the M-Line skis. They use Dynastar’s Hybrid woodcore (apart from the M-Pro Rider, with its full poplar woodcore & two full sheets of metal), then the M-Pro’s are beefed up with the Ti Rocket Frame. Loads of rocker up-front in both ranges, while the M-Free gets a pronounced sweep at the rear too. We also dive into the benefits of the Look SPX 12 ski binding. Dynastar M-Pro & M-Free freeride skis: test & review
SkiKitInfo.com tests the 2022 Lange XT3 Tour Pro freetour/touring boot, taking you through the pros and cons of the XT3 Tour Pro, XT3 Tour Sport and XT3 Tour models. XT3 Tour is a totally new line of boots from Lange, focussing clearly on the needs of skiers that want a superb ski boot with great touring function. The range-topping XT3 Tour Pro is an excellent boot with enough power to drive beefy freeride skis, while still working well with lighter-weight touring skis. Lange XT3 Tour boot range; in-depth review
SkiKitInfo.com tests the 2021 K2 Diversion MIPS / Virtue MIPS ski and snowboard helmet. These are multi-certified helmets, approved for ski, snowboard and bicycle use in America and Europe. It's massively motivating when people subscribe and really helps us to make more kit reviews for you. The Diversion MIPS is the men’s model while the Virtue MIPS is the women’s model. They’re the same helmet, just with different size range and colours, and are both new for winter 2021. They use a hybrid construction, which combines the lightweight in-mold design, common in cycle helmets, with a tougher hard-shell in critical areas. This harder material also accommodates adjustable venting, which can be separately moderated on the top and rear. The goggle strap retainers are on the side, which works superbly well and stops the goggle from flipping backwards off the helmet, when you lift them off your face. The full-wrap, wicking liner is removable and washable. You can also remove the ear pads and neck roll, for those spring riding sessions or when out on your bike. Fit adjustment is taken care of with a dial on then rear, which snugs the helmet right around your head, rather than just shoving you forward in the helmet. This is a really comfortable helmet and the design is great for year-round use. It looks really good on and with a range of colour options it’s pretty easy to match your taste. Sound good? This is an excellent choice for strong intermediate and advanced level skiers who love powder but still want strong performance on firm snow. This gives the ski great energy and stability, with decent rocker front and back aiding manoeuvrability. The result is a freeride style all-mountain ski that provides surprisingly good performance on firmer snow. The 96mm waist, combined with the lift in the front and back, dishes out a ton of fun in softer snow too. Sound good? Watch the video to see if these skis may be the ones for you. SkiKitInfo.com tests the 2021 Elan Wingman 86 Ti all-mountain ski. A predictable and confidence inspiring ski, with excellent manners on firm snow and a forgiving nature in softer conditions. A great ski for intermediate and advanced level skiers wanting one ski for a variety of terrain and snow consistency. The Wingman range is designed by Elan to cater for skiers wanting to rip the groomers with enough versatility to have fun off the sides in soft snow and chopped up conditions. They use Elan’s Amphibio shaping, where you get a long standard camber in the inside edge of each ski combined with tip and tail rocker on the outside edge. This does mean you have a left and right specific ski. Elan uses Truline tech, where they put more structural material above the cover, over the inside edge of each ski. For the Wingman 86 Ti this mean that a shaped strip of Titanium sits full width underfoot, then tapers towards the inside edge at the tip and tail. You get increased power and drive on this side of the ski, and it means the outside, rockered edge is more relaxed, making the ski less grabby and improving ease of use. Sound good? SkiKitInfo.com tests the 2021 Rossignol React R8 HP piste ski. This is an easy to use, light, friendly piste ski, sitting between the R10 Ti & R6 Compact. Although this is a good ski, is it brilliant? Does it deserve the ‘high performance’ acronym? SkiKitInfo.com has skied all three models. The new Flex Tip of these skis, made of notches in the core at the tip & tail, make it more forgiving in the edge of the ski at the contact points. As a result, turn initiation is really easy, smooth & intuitive. At the tail, this forgiving nature means release from the turn is so easy, meaning you don’t get locked into a turn. The top performing R10 Ti has a layer of Titanal, as well as a central rubber & metal laminate, which sits vertically in the wood core. This Line Control Technology helps improve ski to snow contact, adapted from their race department skis. The other skis in the React range don’t have this strong central layer, but other design features help maintain the performance of those skis in subtler ways. While this video is about the R8 HP, we’ve got recommendations of other models in the React range you should look at. The R8 HP is a decent ski, but we strongly feel that other skis in this range could work better for you, depending on your skiing level. Watch the video to find out.
